"The angry of the Battibecco" is the name under which the artists Maurizio Bottarelli (1943), Alberto Colliva (1943) and Franco Filippi (1942-2015) made their debut in Bologna in 1962, in a self-managed exhibition space that allowed them to impose itself on the attention of critics and the public. Exactly sixty years later, Studio la Linea Verticale intends to recall that singular episode by re-proposing the works of that time, but with the spirit and means of today. With this project, the gallery reconfirms its commitment to emerging art, but through a chronological reversal that takes visitors back in time. The idea of this exhibition stems from the interest that the gallery has developed right from the start for the work of Alberto Colliva, present among the artists of the inaugural collective. The exhibition consists of nearly thirty works, including unpublished ones, coming directly from the artists, with the exception of a Bottarelli Head kindly loaned by the Unipol Group's artistic heritage. The presence of this panel on display is of particular importance, because it is one of the works exhibited by the artist in the second exhibition of the Battibecco group, as confirmed by some unpublished photographs of the time recovered for the occasion. The curatorship of the exhibition is entrusted to Pasquale Fameli, art critic and lecturer at the University of Bologna who in recent years has dedicated numerous studies to local artists. For the occasion, a catalogue will be produced, published by Danilo Montanari, with an essay by the curator which reconstructs the activity of the three artists in the early 1960s and which brings together a selection of the works on display.
